Well, it's only been 3 years....

I obviously decided that blogging wasn't important to me 3 years ago.  I am close the highest weight I've ever been when not pregnant.  I'm hoping that by blogging again, I'll be able to stay more accountable to myself and focused on my weight loss.

My current weight is 206.4, which is 16.5 pounds above my last posted weight on here.  😢
I am logging my food on My Fitness Pal (I'm abbysmom814) and using my Fitbit to track steps and activity.  I also post on Instagram to stay accountable.  I'm participating in a 100 day honest tracking challenge and a 100 days of activity challenge on Instagram.

My goal is to be down 20 pounds by June 1.  I have 16 pounds to go to reach that goal.  I have been walking in my neighborhood and taking classes at the Y when I can.  I have discovered a love for the Barre class and really enjoy it when I can get there.  I've also been taking a Zumba class on Sunday afternoons that is really fun.  I love the instructor.  He is very energetic and makes us all feel like we can dance, even if we have 2 left feet.

I will try to update this at least once per week, but no guarantees.  If you want to make sure I haven't completely fallen off the wagon, just follow me on Instagram!

Ummm....It's been awhile.

OK, so it's been way too long since I updated this thing.  One of my goals for this year is to start updating my blog on a more consistent basis (you know, more often than every 5 months...)  Since my last post, I have completed one round of 21 day fix, been diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis in my left foot, started and quit Weight Watchers, and gone back to using My Fitness Pal.  I am considering becoming a Beachbody Coach and will be ordering Hammer & Chisel in the next couple of days.

I am struggling to get up each morning to do my workout before I have to get my children up for school and daycare.  I think part of my problem is that I am getting bored with my workouts.  I hope by getting another program, that will help.  With the weather warming up, I'm trying to get outside more to walk and take my girls to the park.

My current weight is 189.9.  I am up 12.3 pounds from this time last  year.  We are going to the beach at the end of July.  My goal is to be in the 160s by then.  That would be 20-25 pounds in 4 months. This is completely doable.  We leave 17 weeks from now.  That would be 1.18-1.5 pounds per week.  I know I can do this.

I had quite a bit of success last year before I fell of the wagon completely by having basically the same thing for lunch every day.  I made a Southern Hamburger Pie.  I've included the recipe for it below.

Southern Hamburger Pie

Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground chuck
1 small onion (I use about 1 tbsp dried minced onion)
1 small can chopped green chilies
1 (4 oz) can mushrooms, sliced and drained (I don't use these as we don't like mushrooms in our house)
4 ounces light cream cheese
1 Tbsp all purpose flour
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp salt
1 (5.5 oz) can refrigerated biscuits, low fat (I can't find lowfat, but I use the Kroger brand of these that are $0.50 a can at my store.)
1 cup lowfat cottage cheese
1 egg
ground paprika
red pepper flakes (optional) - I don't use these either

Preparation:

  1. Combine meat and onion in a large skillet.  Cook until meat is browned and onion is tender.
  2. Drain meat mixture in colander, and pat dry with a paper towel.  Wipe pan drippings from skillet with paper towel.
  3. Return meat mixture to skillet; add mushrooms, green chilies, and light cream cheese.  Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until cheese melts.  Stir in flour, salt, pepper, & cumin, blending well.
  4. Split each biscuit in half; pat biscuit dough evenly into a 9" pie plate coated with non-stick cooking spray.  (I usually only use seven of the 10 biscuits in the can and bake the other three.) Spoon meat mixture over dough.
  5. Combine cottage cheese and egg, mixing well.  Spread evenly over meat mixture.  Sprinkle mixture with paprika and red pepper flakes.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
Serves 6.

Let me know if you try this.  It's a favorite recipe and is quick to put together and reheats well.

I'm going to try to post at least one recipe a week on here.

Guess who's back...back again....

Well, I weighed in this morning at 191.7 after eating Chick-fil-A for lunch and Moe's for dinner yesterday.  I am definitely going in the WRONG direction with my weight loss here.  I am starting over.  I have cancelled my Weight Watchers membership since I was paying for it but wasn't using it to track anything.  I am using My Fitness Pal again and love that it is free.  Definitely helps the budget!

I am going to get onto Emily Bites to pick out some recipes to try for breakfasts and lunches this week.  I have been making her Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Singles for breakfasts.  They are delicious and filling.  I am anxious to try some new recipes!

My goals for November are below:

1. Track all food in My Fitness Pal
2.  Focus on drinking at least 64 ounces of water each day
3.  Start blogging again and link up with Weigh-In Wednesday
4.  Start working out again
5.  Get at least 5,000 steps a day (I work a desk job and don't get up nearly enough during the day)
6.  Lose at least 5 pounds.

I am going to ask for the 21-Day-Fix for Christmas.  In the meantime, I will focus on tracking my food and trying to make healthier choices.

Weigh in Wednesday - June 17, 2015

Wow!!  Almost 3 months since my last update.  OOPS...

SW: 184.2
Last Week's Weight: 179.6
This Week's Weight: 183.4
Pounds lost this week: +3.8
Total Lost: 0.8
Pounds to go: 23.4

I pretty much fell off the wagon.  This morning, I weighed in at 183.4.  I am up 3.8 pounds in 3 months.  My sugar intake has been out of control lately.  This week, I am going to focus on WATER, WATER, WATER.  I am going to make up some egg muffins for breakfast and a hamburger pie for lunches next week.  I'm going to pack lots of fruits and veggies for meals and snacks at work next week.

My goal is to focus on food and water for the next 1.5-2 weeks and then work on getting back into an exercise routine.  I need to get my eating under control before I start to try to bring the workouts back into my schedule.

I am linking up with Winter and Cassi for Weigh in Wednesday.

Weigh In Wednesday on Thursday - March 26, 2015

Well, I haven't blogged in over a month.  I weighed in yesterday morning and was at 179.6.  That's up 0.8 pounds since my last blog post.  My goal is to be out of the 170s by the end of April.  We are going on vacation in either May or June and I want to be between 160-165 by then.  I'm linking up with Heather, Erin & Winter for Weigh In Wednesday.

SW: 184.2
Last Week's Weight: 178.8
This Week's Weight: 179.6
Pounds lost this week: +0.8
Total Lost: 4.6
Pounds to go: 19.6

I'm going to restart my Beachbody programs and see if I can find a Les Mills Pump/T25 hybrid schedule to do.  I know that will help tremendously.  I've started fixing my lunch everyday for work and trying to focus on adding lots of fruits and veggies to each meal.  I'm going to get on Pinterest and see if I can find some new recipes to try for breakfasts and lunches.  I also need to get our water line in our refrigerator fixed.  It keeps freezing up, so I probably need to get the thermostat replaced.  I know that will make it easier to remember to drink my water.

I've started drinking decaf tea with just a little bit of sugar in it at dinner.  I figure that is better for me than the diet cokes I've been drinking.

Weigh in Wednesday ~ February 18, 2015

Hey everyone!  I hope you all had a good week last week. Our week has been a bit crazy so far. We had an ice storm on Monday and yesterday got 1.5 inches of snow on top of that. I live in the south, so we don't get enough of that weather to know how to deal with it. Today, the high temperature is only supposed to be 16. BRRRRRR!!!

On to my weigh in. I was down almost 2 pounds over the weekend, but being stuck at home inside for 2 days screwed that up. I am down 0.7 pounds this week.

                        SW: 184.2
           Last Week's Weight: 179.5

Weigh in Wednesday - February 10, 2015

Hey everyone!  I did have a loss last week, but was really busy and didn't make time to blog about it.  I was down 0.9 last week to 180.9.   This week I had another loss!  So excited!

SW: 184.2
Last Week's Weight: 180.9
This Week's Weight: 179.5
Pounds lost this week: 1.4
Total Lost: 4.7
Pounds to go: 19.5

I am so glad to FINALLY be out of the 180s!!  My next goal is to lose 1.3 pounds so I can get my first 5 pound star and move more steadily into the 170s.  I've been eating LOTS of fruit and veggies and trying to focus on my water intake, so I think that has really helped.  I did lose 1 point per day, so I am at 29 points each day now.  I don't mind though.  That means this is working!!  Yesterday, I had 6 points left over at the end of the day and I wasn't hungry.  I didn't use them.  Obviously, I won't make a habit out of that, but there are some days when I am just not hungry.  There are plenty of other days where I make up for it.

Come join me with Heather, Ash & Erin for Weigh In Wednesday!
